Gutenberg Museum Johannes Gutenberg was born in Mainz almost exactly 600 hundreds years ago, his life and work is well preserved in the The Gutenberg Museum located next to the Mainz Cathedral in the heart of the old part of Mainz. It is one of the oldest museums of printing in the world. founded in 1900 by a group of citizens 500 years after Gutenberg's birth. This museum as in display the rare and the most significant work Gutenberg produced; the 42-line Bible printed in 1452. It gives visitors the chance to see two Gutenberg Bibles side by side.
