Conference Center - Youth Celebration

Ana is participating in the youth celebration that takes place in the Conference Center the 29 and 30 of May commemorating the dedication of the Utah Draper and Oquirrh Mountain Utah temples. This has been an incredible experience for Ana to participate during months for this event, some photos of the dress rehersal are available in an article published in Church News . Ana is in the photo included in this post, the photo is from Keith Johnson of Deseret News

Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple

A week ago we went to the Oquirrh Mountain Utah Temple to see the new Temple that soon will open it's doors to the public open house, it is magnificent structure with a breathtaking views of the Salt Lake Valley, today the media tour took place and Church News published several photos of the interiors of this beautiful temple that  stands 183 feet high and features interior limestone from Morocco and Egypt, white oak woodwork and original artwork and murals painted by Church-service missionaries.

New Radio Station

Falcon Park

These parks provide an excellent opportunity to walk, play and relax and very much appreciated. I took this panorama this morning.

A great man in life!

Excerpts of my Journal - April 4, 1985 and June 28, 1995 "Filomena is about complete her time and soon we will have our baby, it will be a special moment for both of us". "We have a beautiful son with of 2 months of age, I know he will be a great man in life". Today is Miguel's birthday we are thankful for him and his life... Happy Birthday from your father, mother, brother and sister!

A Flood of Thoughts

Today Filomena and I attended a branch in a retirement home complex to wish all a happy mother's day, while in their a flood of thoughts come about our own mothers and their role in our lives. So to my Dear Wife, My daughter, My Mother, My Grand Mother, My Mother in Law and Avó Maria... Happy Mother's Day!

Frankfurt, Germany

We moved to Frankfurt, Germany for the first time in 1988 , we arrived on November 9th of that year, it was exactly one year latter in November 9, 1989 that we witnessed the fall of the Berlin wall . In 1991 we moved to Cessy, France a small French village in the "Pays de Gex" next to Geneva and then to Portugal to return to Frankfurt in 1999 where we lived again until June of 2005. Our middle son João was born in Frankfurt and we have as a family many special memories of this part of the world. We will be returning again to Frankfurt in July of this year and are looking forward to the new challenges and opportunies head of us to serve others.

Howard Hughes Medical Institute

This Summer Miguel will be doing his internship with one of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigators at the University of Iowa, he is excited and so are we about that opportunity! Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) it is one of the largest private funding organizations for biological and medical research in the United States. According to the institute's former president, Thomas R. Cech , the HHMI spends about $1 million per investigator per year, which amounts to annual investment in biomedical research of about $450 million. The institute has an endowment of $17.5 billion , making it the second-wealthiest philanthropic organization in the United States (behind the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation ), and the second best endowed medical research foundation in the world.
